JoAnne Dorr has lived in Birmingham for 32 years. She graduated from The University of Alabama in 1981 with a degree in Public Relations and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega. She graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1985. She began participating in pageants and modeling professionally as a teenager. She won a number of local and statewide pageants culminating in winning Miss Alabama USA 1981 and Miss Alabama World 1981. After a brief career as an attorney, she came home to start a family and raised five children who are all adults now. She is married to Rusty Dorr, who practices law at Maynard Cooper.
Mary Margaret Byrd, the oldest of JoAnne’s five children, graduated from Vestavia Hills High School in 2006. In 2010, she graduated from Auburn University with a degree in English and was a member of Chi Omega. After graduating, she married and moved to Washington, D.C where her husband was stationed in the Coast Guard. During her five years there she managed boutique fitness studios. Now that they are back down South, she is a stay-at-home mom to her three year old Barrett and three month old Libby. She and her husband, Kenny, enjoy spending time outdoors with their two dachshunds, trying new restaurants and attempting to garden.
